Tjänstearkitektur

Tjänstearkitektur, often translated as service architecture or service-oriented architecture (SOA) in English, is a software design approach that structures applications as a collection of loosely coupled, interoperable services. Each service performs a specific business function and communicates with other services through well-defined interfaces, typically using standard protocols. The goal of tjänstearkitektur is to promote flexibility, reusability, and maintainability within IT systems.

Key principles of tjänstearkitektur include autonomy, where services are independent and can be developed, deployed, and managed separately; discoverability, allowing services to be found and invoked by other applications; and composability, enabling complex functionalities to be built by combining multiple services. This approach contrasts with traditional monolithic architectures where an entire application is built as a single, tightly integrated unit.
