Tiwara

Tiwara is a village located in the Shravasti district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Administratively it falls under the Tehsil of Mansar and is part of the Kurmuk block. The village is situated approximately 150 kilometres southeast of the state capital Lucknow and about 10 kilometres north of the district headquarters, Shravasti. Tiwara lies at an elevation of around 114 metres above sea level and is positioned near the banks of the Rudra River, which historically has supplied the area with fertile alluvial soil.

According to the 2011 Census of India, Tiwara had a population of 4,842 residents living in 795 households. The demographic profile shows a roughly equal gender distribution, with a slightly higher proportion of males. The literacy rate is 65.2%, which is slightly below the district average, and the community is largely agrarian. Major crops include wheat, maize, and pulses, while the cultivation of sugarcane and paddy is also practiced in nearby fields.

Culturally, the village is known for its annual mela on the festival of Holika Dahan, which attracts participants from surrounding villages. The local economy is supplemented by small-scale trading and artisanal crafts, particularly weaving of handloom textile. The primary educational facility is the government primary school, which serves students up to the sixth standard. Tiwara is connected by a network of rural roads to the nearby towns of Moradabad and Ramnagar, enabling access to markets and secondary education institutions.
