Tiivikvoolumõõtja

Tiivikvoolumõõtja, also known as a paddlewheel flow meter, is a type of velocity meter used to measure the flow rate of liquids. It consists of a rotor with blades, often referred to as paddles or wings, that is placed in the path of the fluid flow. As the fluid moves, it causes the rotor to spin. The speed at which the rotor turns is directly proportional to the velocity of the fluid.

The rotational speed of the paddlewheel is typically detected by a sensor, such as a magnetic pickup or an optical sensor. This sensor generates an electrical signal, usually a series of pulses, for each revolution of the rotor. The frequency of these pulses is then translated into a flow rate measurement by a processing unit, which can be integrated into the meter itself or be a separate device.

Tiivikvoolumõõtjad are generally simple, robust, and cost-effective. They are commonly used in applications where moderate accuracy is sufficient, such as in water treatment, HVAC systems, and certain industrial processes. They are best suited for measuring the flow of relatively clean liquids. Liquids containing significant amounts of solids or debris can cause wear on the paddlewheel or obstruct its rotation, leading to inaccurate readings. The performance of a tiivikvoolumõõtja can also be affected by changes in fluid viscosity and density. Calibration is important to ensure accurate measurements.
