Threadwood

Threadwood is a fictional town and the surrounding woodland in the country of Eldenmere. The primary settlement lies along Threadwater Brook and the Lark River, about 40 kilometers north of the capital Glaston. The population is reported at approximately 5,800 residents.

Threadwood sits in a shallow valley bordered by beech and oak forests. The valley contains Threadwood Creek and small wetlands that support footpaths and grazing lands. The climate is temperate with regular rainfall, creating a green landscape that sustains forestry, agriculture, and outdoor recreation.

Threadwood formed around water-powered thread mills established in 1683 by local guilds. The town grew through the 18th and 19th centuries with steam-powered mills and railway connections. In the late 20th century, many mills closed, but the town preserved its textile heritage through museums, workshops, and craft studios.

Today the economy centers on heritage tourism, artisanal crafts, and small-scale manufacturing, along with forestry and services. The Threadwood Loom Museum and several studios draw visitors. The town is connected by regional roads and a short rail link to larger cities; a weekly market operates in the town center.

Local institutions include Threadwood Primary School and a regional secondary campus. The community hosts an annual weaving festival in autumn and maintains several historic sites, such as Old Mill Park and The Weavers’ Green.
