Thioates
Thioates are a class of organic compounds that contain a sulfur atom double-bonded to a carbon atom, which is also bonded to an alkoxy group or a phenoxy group. This functional group can be represented as R-C(=S)-OR', where R is an alkyl or aryl group, and R' is an alkyl or aryl group. Thioates are sulfur analogs of esters, with the oxygen atom of the carbonyl group replaced by a sulfur atom.
The synthesis of thioates can be achieved through various methods, including the reaction of thiocarboxylic acids
Thioates find applications in organic synthesis as intermediates and reagents. They can be hydrolyzed to thiocarboxylic
