Think20

Think20 (T20) is an international network of think tanks and policy research institutes that participates in the annual G20 process. It aims to translate research into policy recommendations for G20 leaders and other decision-makers, helping to inform discussions on global economic and development challenges.

The T20 operates under the presidency of the G20 host country. Each year, a steering group coordinates the work and a task-force structure develops themed policy briefs. Think tanks from G20 member countries and invited partners collaborate to develop non-binding policy recommendations presented in a final T20 policy brief.

The work typically includes research collaborations, expert workshops, and public events that cover topics such as macroeconomics and finance, international trade and investment, sustainable development and climate action, digital economy and innovation, health and social resilience, and energy transition.

Policy outputs are intended to inform G20 sherpas, finance ministers, and other policymakers ahead of the G20 summit. While influential, T20 recommendations do not have legal authority and reflect the views of participating think tanks rather than a single government.

Membership is broad and often includes universities, research institutes, policy centers, and NGOs. The network emphasizes inclusivity and open dialogue, with rotating leadership and a standing secretariat that coordinates activities, reports, and dissemination.
