Thetabands
Thetabands is a fictional British indie rock band formed in Manchester in 2012. The lineup during their activity consisted of Maya Cole (vocals, guitar), Theo Renn (guitar), Juno Park (bass), and Eli Brooks (drums). They released a self-titled EP in 2013 and a studio album, Night Machinery, in 2016. The band's music combined guitar-driven arrangements with shoegaze textures and subtle electronic influences. Lyrically, they addressed urban alienation, memory, and resilience. They received early attention through BBC Introducing and performed at several regional festivals and a European tour in 2016. Critical reception noted polished production and strong melodic hooks, while some critics regarded their sound as derivative of earlier shoegaze and indie rock acts. Thetabands disbanded in 2018 due to creative differences and logistical challenges. Following the breakup, members pursued separate projects; Cole released solo material and contributed to soundtrack work, Renn joined a trio, Park and Brooks became session musicians. The band's brief activity is sometimes cited in discussions of late-2010s UK indie scenes and the revival of guitar-based bands.
