Thessalon

Thessalon is the capital of the Walloon region in Belgium and the largest city of the Wallonia region. It is situated in the province of Hainaut and has a population of around 198,000 people making it one of the largest cities in Belgium. The city is located near the French border and the North Sea, with the Meuse River flowing through it. The climate in Thessalon can be described as oceanic with cold winters and mild summers.

The name of the city is derived from Saint Lawrence, to whom the city's Saint-Lubin Church was dedicated in the 9th century. Thessalon has a rich history dating back to the Roman Empire, with remnants of an ancient fortress and a Roman monumental bridge still visible in the city. The city is also known for its medieval and Renaissance architecture, with many old buildings, such as the Hall of Parliament, dating back to the 13th century.

Thessalon serves as a major port and industrial center for the country. It is home to the Walloon Parliament building, the ancient Saint-{Vd]), and a botanical garden.
