Theodosia
Theodosia is a place name most commonly associated with a port city on the eastern Crimean coast. Today it is usually referred to as Feodosia in Russian and Ukrainian. The site has ancient origins as a Greek settlement in the Bosporan region and later carried through Roman, Byzantine, Genoese, Ottoman, and Russian control. Its harbor supported trade and shipbuilding, helping the city develop as a regional center in successive eras. In the modern era, following the 2014 annexation of Crimea, Feodosia is administered by Russia as part of the Republic of Crimea, a status that is not universally recognized; Ukraine and many other countries consider Crimea to be Ukrainian territory.
Theodosia is also a given name, derived from Greek roots such as Theodosius/Theodosia, meaning “gift of God”
