Testtömeghmérséklet

Testtömeghőmérséklet, often referred to as core body temperature, is the temperature of the internal organs of the body. This is distinct from surface temperature, which is the temperature of the skin. Maintaining a stable core body temperature is crucial for the proper functioning of physiological processes and is regulated by a complex thermoregulatory system.

The normal human testtömeghőmérséklet typically hovers around 37 degrees Celsius (98.6 degrees Fahrenheit), though this can fluctuate slightly throughout the day and in response to various factors. For instance, body temperature often dips slightly during sleep and rises during physical activity. Age also plays a role, with infants and older adults sometimes exhibiting slightly different temperature ranges.

Deviations from the normal range can indicate a health issue. A temperature significantly above the normal range, known as fever, is often a sign that the body is fighting an infection or inflammation. Conversely, a dangerously low body temperature, or hypothermia, can occur due to prolonged exposure to cold environments and impairs bodily functions.

The hypothalamus, a region in the brain, acts as the body's thermostat, sensing changes in blood temperature and initiating responses to either conserve heat (like shivering) or dissipate heat (like sweating) to maintain the testtömeghőmérséklet within its narrow, healthy range.
