Tesafilm

Tesafilm is a brand of transparent, pressure-sensitive adhesive tape produced by Tesa SE, a German adhesives manufacturer that is part of the Beiersdorf group. The tape is widely used for office, school, and household tasks and is a familiar general-purpose tape in many European markets.

Tesafilm was introduced by Tesa in the 20th century as a clear, easy-to-use tape. The name combines Tesa with film, highlighting its film-backed construction. Over time, the product line expanded to include variations with different adhesion levels, backings, and formulations to suit different tasks.

Most Tesafilm tapes use a film backing, commonly polypropylene or polyester, coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive based on acrylic or rubber polymers. They are designed to be transparent and to adhere to paper, cardboard, plastic, and many other surfaces. Variants are available that offer standard, extra-strong, or removable/low-residue formulations to minimize damage on removal.

Common applications include sealing envelopes and parcels, repairing torn paper or documents, mounting photos and lightweight displays, and labeling items in offices or classrooms. There are also double-sided Tesafilm variants and other specialty versions marketed for mounting or joining materials without visible tape.

In markets outside Europe, Tesafilm is typically sold under the broader Tesa brand while retaining recognition as a general-purpose transparent tape. The product line forms part of Tesa’s broader portfolio of adhesives, tapes, and mounting solutions.
