Terroranslagene

Terroranslagene refers to a series of terrorist attacks that occurred in Norway on July 22, 2011. The attacks were carried out by Anders Behring Breivik, a far-right extremist.

The first attack involved a car bomb detonated outside the government headquarters in Oslo. The explosion caused significant damage to the building and surrounding areas, resulting in the deaths of eight people and injuring many others.

Following the bombing, Breivik proceeded to the island of Utøya, where the Workers' Youth League (AUF) of the Labour Party was holding its annual summer camp. Disguised as a police officer, Breivik opened fire on the attendees. He systematically hunted down and killed 69 individuals, primarily young people, and injured 110.

The attacks sent shockwaves through Norway and the international community, prompting widespread condemnation and a period of national mourning. Breivik was apprehended at Utøya and later confessed to the attacks. He claimed his motives were to combat multiculturalism and the Labour Party's immigration policies.

The trial of Anders Behring Breivik began in April 2012. He was found to be of sound mind and was sentenced to 21 years in prison, the maximum sentence under Norwegian law, which can be extended if he is deemed a continued danger to society. The terroranslagene remains a significant event in modern Norwegian history, prompting discussions about extremism, radicalization, and national security.
