Territorialization

Territorialization is a social and political process by which a group claims and controls a geographical area. This involves establishing boundaries, asserting authority over the territory and its inhabitants, and often developing a sense of shared identity tied to the land. The process can occur through various means, including conquest, colonization, settlement, or legal and administrative means. It is a fundamental aspect of state formation and the organization of human societies, creating distinct political units with defined borders and jurisdictions.
