Termopaaris

Termopaaris is a device used to measure temperature. It consists of two dissimilar electrical conductors, typically wires, joined together at one end. This junction is known as the measuring junction or hot junction. The other ends of the conductors are connected to a voltage measuring instrument, and this connection point is called the reference junction or cold junction.

When the measuring junction is exposed to a different temperature than the reference junction, a small voltage is produced. This phenomenon is called the Seebeck effect. The magnitude of this voltage is directly proportional to the temperature difference between the two junctions. By knowing the temperature at the reference junction, and measuring the voltage produced, the temperature at the measuring junction can be determined.

The choice of dissimilar conductors determines the temperature range and sensitivity of the thermocouple. Common thermocouple types include Type K (chromel-alumel), Type J (iron-constantan), and Type T (copper-constantan). Each type has specific characteristics making them suitable for different applications, such as industrial furnaces, scientific research, and automotive systems. Thermocouples are widely used due to their robustness, wide temperature range, and relatively low cost. However, they generally offer lower accuracy compared to other temperature sensors like resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) or thermistors. Calibration is crucial for accurate temperature readings.
