Termomeeter

Termomeeter is a nonstandard spelling often encountered as a variant of thermometer. A thermometer is a device for measuring temperature. Thermometers are used to determine the temperature of air, liquids, solids, and living tissue and play a central role in medicine, weather observation, manufacturing, and laboratory work.

Thermometers come in several principal types, including liquid-in-glass thermometers (mercury or alcohol), electronic digital thermometers with semiconductor sensors, infrared thermometers that measure surface radiation, thermocouples that generate a voltage proportional to temperature, and resistance temperature detectors RTDs that change electrical resistance with temperature. Each type converts thermal energy into a readable signal through mechanical expansion, electrical resistance, or infrared emission.

Common temperature scales include Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. Accuracy depends on calibration, sensor quality, response time, and measurement environment. Digital devices often provide rapid readings and data logging; glass thermometers offer simplicity and long-term stability.

Historically, thermometers evolved from the thermoscope to the liquid-in-glass device. The Fahrenheit scale was proposed by Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit in 1724, and the Celsius scale by Anders Celsius in 1742. Modern thermometry includes noncontact infrared methods and industrial sensors for process control.
