Tenorstimmen

Tenorstimmen refers to the highest male singing voice. It is typically characterized by its bright and ringing quality, with a range that extends from approximately C3 (the C below middle C) to C5 (the C above middle C), though some tenors can sing higher. This voice type is a staple in opera, choral music, and popular music genres.

Within the tenor classification, there are several subcategories that describe the specific timbre and weight of the voice. These include the lyric tenor, which is lighter and more agile, often used for romantic leads; the spinto tenor, which has more power and can handle dramatic roles; and the dramatic tenor, which possesses a powerful and robust voice suitable for heroic characters. Other classifications, such as the heldentenor, are also recognized, particularly in Wagnerian repertoire.

The training of a tenor voice focuses on developing a strong upper register, clear diction, and the ability to sustain a ringing tone.
