TeletextDaten

TeletextDaten refers to the data transmitted as part of the Teletext television broadcast system. Teletext was a popular service offering text-based information, such as news, weather, sports scores, and television schedules, overlaid onto a standard television signal. The data itself was organized into "pages," each with a unique number. These pages were transmitted in a sequential loop, and viewers would use their remote controls to select the desired page number to access the information.

The TeletextDaten system utilized specific television line numbers within the vertical blanking interval (VBI) of the broadcast signal. These lines were not used for the main video picture and were thus available for transmitting auxiliary data. The data was encoded using a specific character set and protocol, allowing television sets equipped with Teletext decoders to interpret and display the pages. Different countries and broadcasters often implemented variations of the Teletext standard, leading to some regional differences in appearance and functionality. While largely superseded by the internet and digital broadcasting, Teletext was a significant precursor to modern digital information services, demonstrating the concept of on-demand digital content delivery through a familiar medium.
