Teleensitivity

Teleensitivity is a hypothetical and unproven sensory or psychic ability that allows an individual to perceive or sense information remotely, beyond the normal range of human senses. This concept often appears in science fiction and parapsychology. The term itself is a portmanteau of "tele-" meaning "far" or "distant," and "sensitivity" referring to the capacity to perceive.

Proponents of teleensitivity suggest it could manifest in various forms, such as telepathic reception of thoughts, clairvoyant perception of distant events or objects, or precognitive awareness of future occurrences. These abilities are not recognized by mainstream science, and there is no empirical evidence to support their existence. Scientific investigations into alleged psychic phenomena have generally failed to produce repeatable and verifiable results that would validate such claims.

Despite the lack of scientific acceptance, the idea of teleensitivity continues to be explored in fictional narratives and in discussions within parapsychological communities. It often serves as a plot device to enable characters to overcome obstacles or gain hidden knowledge, and as a subject of interest for those who explore consciousness and the potential limits of human perception. Research in this area, when conducted, typically employs methods such as controlled experiments designed to detect statistically significant deviations from chance, but these have not yielded conclusive evidence for teleensitivity.
