Tehetetlenségiátlag is a Hungarian term that translates to "average inertia" or "mean inertia." It is a concept that arises in physics and engineering, particularly when dealing with rotational motion and the distribution of mass within a rotating object.

In essence, tehetetlenségiátlag is used to represent the inertia of a complex system as if it were a single, simplified point mass. The moment of inertia, a measure of an object's resistance to rotational acceleration, depends not only on its mass but also on how that mass is distributed relative to the axis of rotation. For irregularly shaped objects or systems composed of multiple parts, calculating the exact moment of inertia can be complex. The tehetetlenségiátlag provides a way to simplify this by defining an equivalent distance from the axis of rotation at which the entire mass of the object could be concentrated to produce the same moment of inertia.
