Teherelosztó, often translated as "load balancer," is a crucial component in modern network architecture designed to distribute incoming network traffic across multiple servers. This distribution prevents any single server from becoming overwhelmed, thereby improving application responsiveness and availability.

The primary function of a teherelosztó is to ensure that requests are efficiently handled by a pool of backend servers. When a client makes a request, the teherelosztó receives it and, using a predefined algorithm, determines which server is best suited to handle the request. Common algorithms include round robin, where requests are distributed sequentially; least connections, which directs traffic to the server with the fewest active connections; and IP hash, which uses the client's IP address to ensure consistent routing to the same server.
