Tchebychev
Pafnuty Lvovich Chebyshev, commonly known as Chebyshev, was a Russian mathematician who made significant contributions to several areas of mathematics, including number theory, approximation theory, and mechanics. Born on May 16, 1821, in Okatovo, Russia, Chebyshev was educated at the University of Moscow, where he studied under Carl Gustav Jacob Jacobi. He later became a professor at the University of St. Petersburg, where he spent the majority of his career.
Chebyshev's work in number theory includes the development of the Chebyshev polynomials, which are a sequence
In approximation theory, Chebyshev is known for his work on the Chebyshev approximation, which is a method
Chebyshev's work in mechanics includes the development of the Chebyshev mechanism, which is a type of mechanical
Chebyshev was a prolific writer and published numerous papers and books on his mathematical research. He was
