Tasoittuminen

Tasoittuminen is a Finnish term describing the process of making something more even or level, reducing height differences, roughness, or disparities. The concept is used across disciplines to describe smoothing, flattening, or balancing out irregularities.

In manufacturing and construction, tasoittuminen refers to finishing operations that produce flatness and plane accuracy on surfaces. Techniques include planing, milling, grinding, sanding, or leveling underlays and components to meet tolerances. Requirements such as surface roughness and planarity are typically specified by drawings or standards. In tiling or masonry, leveling layers helps ensure even surfaces for subsequent work.

In geology and geomorphology, tasoituminen describes natural processes by which landscapes become more even over time, due to erosion, sedimentation and weathering.
