Tartuhahmona

Tartuhahmona is a fictional island and provincial entity in the archipelagic realm of Lyria. It lies in the eastern sea of the continent of Veridia, consisting of three main islands and numerous islets; the principal island Tartuhahmona covers about 420 square kilometers, with the total archipelago spanning roughly 1,150 square kilometers. The landscape includes volcanic hills, mangrove shores, and extensive coral reefs, while the climate is tropical with a wet season from May to October.

The name is derived from the old Tartuhan language, with elements meaning wind and shore. The islands were settled by maritime communities in the medieval period and developed as a coastal trading post within a regional federation. In the late 20th century Tartuhahmona gained autonomy and is now a unitary parliamentary republic.

As of the latest estimate, about 210,000 residents live there. The official language is Tartuhan; Creole and several local dialects are common in coastal towns. The government consists of a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government, with a unicameral assembly of about sixty members.

The economy relies on fishing, aquaculture, coastal tourism, and small-scale forestry. Port Mare is the capital and principal port, serving international ferries and domestic flights. The archipelago maintains a network of grid-connected towns, inland roads, and small airports.

Culturally, Tartuhahmona emphasizes maritime music, crafts, and seafood cuisine. Notable sites include Mount Kairu, the Glass Lagoon, and the Old Harbor Quarter.
