Tajiquistão

Tajiquistão, officially the Republic of Tajikistan, is a mountainous, landlocked country in Central Asia. It is bordered by Afghanistan to the south, Iran to the southwest, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and China to the east. The capital and largest city is Dushanbe.

Tajiquistão is the smallest nation in Central Asia by area. The Pamir Mountains cover more than half of the country's territory, making it one of the highest countries in the world. The country has a diverse geography, with high mountain ranges, fertile river valleys, and arid desert regions. The principal rivers are the Syr Darya and the Amu Darya.

The population of Tajiquistão is approximately 9.5 million people. The majority of the population are Tajiks, who speak the Tajik language, a variety of Persian. Uzbeks, Russians, and other ethnic groups also reside in the country. Islam is the predominant religion.

Tajiquistão's economy is heavily reliant on agriculture, particularly cotton production, and remittances from migrant workers. The country is rich in mineral resources, including aluminum, gold, and silver, but these resources are not fully exploited. The nation gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Its post-independence history has been marked by a civil war that lasted from 1992 to 1997. The country faces challenges related to poverty, corruption, and border security.
