Taivutusjännitysten

Taivutusjännitysten refers to the internal stresses that develop within a material when it is subjected to bending. When a force is applied to a beam or similar structure, causing it to deform, the material on one side of the neutral axis experiences compression, while the material on the opposite side experiences tension. The neutral axis is an imaginary line within the cross-section of the beam where no stress occurs.

The magnitude of these bending stresses varies across the cross-section. The highest tensile and compressive stresses are found at the outermost surfaces of the beam, furthest from the neutral axis. Conversely, the stress is zero at the neutral axis itself. The distribution of bending stress across the cross-section is typically linear, increasing proportionally with the distance from the neutral axis.

It allows engineers to predict how a structural element will behave under load, ensuring it can withstand the applied forces without failing.
