Tahquamenon
Tahquamenon is a place name found in Michigan, most notably associated with the Tahquamenon River and Tahquamenon Falls State Park. The Tahquamenon River is a significant waterway in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, flowing for over 90 miles before emptying into Lake Superior. Its name is believed to derive from an Ojibwa word meaning "where the water runs clear" or "water with a black, brown, or reddish hue," referring to the tannic acid from cedar and hemlock trees that stains its waters.
Tahquamenon Falls State Park, one of Michigan's largest state parks, is a major attraction for its namesake
