Tagadása

Tagadása is a Hungarian term that denotes the act or instance of denial. In general use it refers to refusing to acknowledge a claim, statement, or fact, or to repudiating an allegation. The word is formed from the verb tagadni (to deny) with the nominalizing suffix -ása, yielding the noun meaning the denial or the act of denying.

In linguistic and philosophical contexts, tagadás describes negation as a logical or semantic operation. It covers the ways a speaker may negate a proposition, whether grammatically or pragmatically, and is discussed in theories of meaning, truth conditions, and discourse analysis. In Hungarian grammar, negation is often realized with the particle nem placed before the verb; tagadás, however, is the broader concept of denying rather than any single grammatical form.
