Tableslæsningsmøder, often translated as "table reading meetings" or "table reads," are a collaborative process in creative industries, particularly in film, television, and theatre. The primary purpose of a table read is for the cast and key creative personnel to gather and read through the script aloud for the first time. This is not a rehearsal in the traditional sense, focused on blocking or character interpretation, but rather an initial exploration of the text's dialogue, pacing, and flow.

During a table read, actors will read their lines, often accompanied by a script supervisor or assistant director reading stage directions or the lines of absent characters. The director, producers, and writers are typically present to observe and listen. This communal reading allows everyone involved to gain a shared understanding of the story, characters, and overall tone. It also serves as an early opportunity to identify potential issues within the script, such as awkward dialogue, plot inconsistencies, or character motivations that may not be clear on the page.

The atmosphere of a table read is generally informal and collaborative.
