TRSliittimet, often referred to as TRS connectors or jacks, are a type of analog audio connector. TRS is an abbreviation for Tip, Ring, and Sleeve, which are the three conductive parts of the connector. The tip is the outermost section, the ring is the middle section, and the sleeve is the innermost section closest to the cable.

These connectors are commonly used for stereo audio signals or balanced mono audio signals. In stereo applications, the tip typically carries the left audio channel, the ring carries the right audio channel, and the sleeve serves as the common ground. For balanced mono audio, the tip and ring carry the same audio signal but with opposite polarity, while the sleeve again acts as the ground. This balanced configuration helps to reduce noise and interference over longer cable runs.

TRS connectors are available in various sizes, with 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) and 3.5 mm (1/8 inch) being the most prevalent. The 1/4 inch size is frequently found on musical instruments, amplifiers, and professional audio equipment, while the 3.5 mm size is standard for headphones and portable audio devices. The physical design of the TRS connector, with its three conductive points, allows for the transmission of two separate audio signals plus a ground, distinguishing it from the TS (Tip-Sleeve) connector which only carries a single mono signal.
