TRPs

TRPs is an acronym with several distinct meanings in different fields. Among media professionals, TRP most commonly refers to Television Rating Point, a metric used to express the size of an audience for a broadcast program or channel. A rating point generally represents 1% of a defined population with access to television, while a program's share indicates the proportion of viewers using television at a given time who are watching that program. TRP data are typically collected from samples of households equipped with measurement devices, such as people meters or set-top box data, and then projected to the broader population. Market authorities, such as the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) in India or Nielsen in other regions, publish ratings. TRPs are used to plan schedules, evaluate performance, and price advertising. They are distinct from but related to Gross Rating Points (GRPs), which sum ratings across multiple programs.

In biology, TRP stands for Transient Receptor Potential, a large and diverse superfamily of ion channels involved
