TMPTA

TMPTA stands for trimethylolpropane triacrylate, a trifunctional acrylate monomer used as a crosslinking agent in ultraviolet (UV)-curable coatings, inks, and adhesives. It is derived from trimethylolpropane and possesses three acrylate ester groups, which enable radical polymerization to form crosslinked networks when exposed to UV light or heat in the presence of suitable initiators.

The three acrylate groups give high functionality, contributing to rapid cure, high crosslink density, and improved hardness and chemical resistance in cured films. TMPTA is typically a viscous liquid at room temperature, and it is often formulated with photoinitiators and other reactive monomers to adjust viscosity and performance.

Applications include UV-curable coatings for wood and metal substrates, coatings for plastics, printing inks, adhesives, sealants, and dental resins. In many formulations, TMPTA serves as both a reactive diluent and a crosslinking agent to achieve durable, solvent- or water-resistant films.

Safety and handling: TMPTA is a reactive monomer and can irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract on contact or inhalation. It should be handled with appropriate protective equipment and used with adequate ventilation.
