TBbehandeling refers to the treatment of tuberculosis (TB), a serious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The primary goal of TBbehandeling is to cure the infection, prevent the spread of the disease, and reduce the risk of developing drug-resistant TB.

Treatment typically involves a combination of several antibiotics taken for an extended period, usually six to nine months, though longer durations may be necessary for certain forms of TB or in individuals with weakened immune systems. The specific drugs and their duration are determined by factors such as the type of TB (e.g., active or latent), the patient's age and overall health, and whether the TB bacteria are resistant to any medications. Standard first-line drugs often include isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol.
