Törmäysvoimia

Törmäysvoimia, often translated as impact forces or collision forces, refers to the significant forces that arise when two or more objects collide. These forces are typically of short duration but can be very large, leading to deformation, damage, or even destruction of the objects involved. The magnitude of the impact force depends on several factors, including the masses of the colliding objects, their velocities before the impact, and the duration of the collision.

Newton's laws of motion are fundamental to understanding törmäysvoimia. The law of conservation of momentum states that in a closed system, the total momentum before a collision is equal to the total momentum after the collision. Momentum is the product of mass and velocity. During the collision, the objects exert equal and opposite forces on each other, as described by Newton's third law. This is often referred to as an action-reaction pair.
