It describes a state of disorientation, confusion, or irrational behavior attributed to prolonged exposure to intense sunlight. While not a formal medical diagnosis, the concept reflects a cultural understanding of how extreme heat and light can affect mental faculties, particularly in environments where such conditions are prevalent.

Historically, this phenomenon was observed among those working outdoors for extended periods in bright, sunny conditions, such as farmers or sailors.
