Sähkönjohtokyvyllä

Sähkönjohtokyvyllä, often translated as electrical conductivity, is a measure of a material's ability to conduct electric current. It is the reciprocal of resistivity, which describes a material's opposition to the flow of electric current. High conductivity means current flows easily, while low conductivity indicates resistance.

This property is fundamental in understanding how materials behave in electrical circuits. Metals like copper and silver are excellent conductors due to their free electrons that can move readily. Insulators, such as rubber and glass, have very low conductivity, preventing the flow of electricity. Semiconductors, like silicon and germanium, fall in between, with conductivity that can be manipulated.

The electrical conductivity of a material is influenced by several factors, including temperature, the presence of impurities, and the material's atomic structure. For metals, conductivity generally decreases with increasing temperature as atomic vibrations impede electron flow. In contrast, the conductivity of semiconductors often increases with temperature as more charge carriers are activated.
