Színtérkorlátokkal is a Hungarian term that translates to "color space limitations" or "color gamut limitations" in English. This concept is fundamental in digital imaging, color reproduction, and display technology. It refers to the fact that any given color space, whether it's for a camera, a monitor, a printer, or a file format, can only represent a specific range of colors. Not all colors that the human eye can perceive can be accurately reproduced by a particular device or within a specific color space.

When colors are converted from one color space to another, such as from a wide-gamut capture device to a narrower-gamut display, or from a digital file to a printed output, these limitations become apparent. Colors that exist in the source color space but fall outside the reproducible range of the destination color space are said to be out of gamut.

Various techniques are employed to handle these out-of-gamut colors. Gamut mapping algorithms are used to adjust these colors so they can be represented within the target color space. Common methods include clipping, where out-of-gamut colors are simply cut off at the boundary of the target gamut, or compression, where the entire color range is scaled to fit. The choice of gamut mapping can significantly affect the visual appearance of the image, influencing saturation, hue, and lightness. Understanding color space limitations is crucial for achieving consistent and predictable color reproduction across different devices and media.
