Szitalike

Szitalike is a village in the fictional region of Verdan, in the country of Eldara. It sits on the banks of the Szita River, amid farmland and scattered woods. The settlement dates to at least the 15th century, with references to Szitalike in regional records from around 1423. It developed around a mill and a parish church, with agriculture and milling as the historical economic base. In the 19th and 20th centuries, improvements in roads and markets linked Szitalike to larger towns, encouraging small-scale manufacturing and crafts.

As of the latest estimates, the population stands at about 1,400 residents. The village is governed by a mayor and a small council, and it forms part of the Verdan district for regional affairs. The surrounding area has a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters, supporting crops such as wheat, barley, and vegetables.

The economy today includes agriculture, a cooperative dairy, and a workshop producing traditional wood crafts. Local life centers on the Harvest Festival and the parish church, which houses a modest art collection. Notable landmarks include the Old Mill, a 19th-century windmill maintained as a local museum, and the Church of Saint Alexander.
