Szintkapcsolók, commonly known as level switches, are devices used to detect and indicate the level of a substance, typically a liquid or granular solid, within a vessel or tank. They operate by triggering an alarm or a control mechanism when the substance reaches a predetermined point. These switches are crucial for preventing overflows, ensuring a minimum fill level, or controlling pumping and filling operations.

There are several types of szintkapcsolók, each utilizing different sensing principles. Float switches employ a buoyant element that rises and falls with the fluid level, actuating a mechanical switch. Conductive level switches work by sensing the electrical conductivity of the substance; when the substance bridges two electrodes, a circuit is completed, triggering the switch. Capacitive level switches detect changes in capacitance caused by the presence or absence of the substance, which alters the dielectric constant between sensing electrodes. Vibrating fork or rod switches use a probe that vibrates at a specific frequency. When the substance comes into contact with the probe, the vibration is dampened, signaling a level change.
