Szinklein

Szinklein is a fictional term used in speculative biology and science fiction to describe a tiny luminescent arthropod-like organism that inhabits moist forest floors and decaying wood. The name is a constructed neologism, often treated as a genus-level designation in imagined taxonomies, sometimes placed in a fictional order Szinkelida within the broader class Insecta or Arachnida, depending on the author.

Physical characteristics: Adults measure 2–5 mm in length, with a soft, translucent exoskeleton. They possess a series of bioluminescent nodules along the dorsal midline that emit a pale blue-green light. Two short antennae and simple mandibles round out their mouthparts. Szinklein are wingless and possess a compact abdomen suited for navigating narrow crevices in damp wood.
