Szexkromoszómájának

Szexkromoszómájának is the Hungarian term for sex chromosome. Sex chromosomes are the chromosomes that determine the biological sex of an organism. In many species, including humans, there are two types of sex chromosomes, conventionally designated as X and Y. The combination of these chromosomes typically dictates whether an individual develops as male or female.

In humans, females typically have two X chromosomes (XX), while males typically have one X and one Y chromosome (XY). The Y chromosome carries a gene, SRY, which is crucial for the development of male reproductive organs. If the SRY gene is present, the embryo will typically develop as male. In the absence of a functional SRY gene, the embryo will typically develop as female.

Other species have different sex determination systems. For example, in birds, females have one Z and one W chromosome (ZW), while males have two Z chromosomes (ZZ). In some insects, sex is determined by the number of X chromosomes, with individuals having two X chromosomes being female and those with a single X chromosome being male. The inheritance pattern of sex chromosomes follows Mendelian genetics, where they are passed from parents to offspring. Variations in sex chromosome number or structure can lead to various genetic conditions.
