Szerződéstípus, which translates to "contract type" in English, refers to the classification of legal agreements based on their specific characteristics, purpose, and the obligations they create between parties. Hungarian contract law, like that of many civil law jurisdictions, recognizes various types of contracts, each governed by specific provisions within the Civil Code. These classifications help define the rights and responsibilities of the individuals or entities involved and provide a framework for dispute resolution.

Common contract types include purchase agreements (adásvételi szerződés), where one party agrees to transfer ownership of a good in exchange for payment; lease agreements (bérleti szerződés), involving the temporary use of property for a fee; service agreements (megbízási szerződés or vállalkozási szerződés), where one party performs a service for another; and loan agreements (kölcsönszerződés), concerning the provision of money or other fungible items with the expectation of repayment.
