Szemöblítés

Szemöblítés, a Hungarian term, translates to "eye rinsing" or "eyewash" in English. It refers to the process of flushing the eyes with a sterile liquid to remove foreign bodies, irritants, or chemicals. This is a crucial first-aid procedure often performed in emergency situations.

The primary purpose of szemöblítés is to prevent or minimize damage to the eye. When foreign particles like dust, dirt, or metal shavings enter the eye, rinsing helps to wash them out before they can cause abrasion or deeper injury. In cases of chemical splashes, immediate and thorough szemöblítés is vital to dilute and remove the corrosive substance, thereby reducing the severity of chemical burns.

Specialized eyewash stations are commonly found in workplaces, laboratories, and industrial settings where the risk of eye exposure to hazardous materials is present. These stations typically consist of a basin and a source of sterile saline solution or clean water. For immediate on-the-go use, portable eyewash bottles are also available.
