Syväjäädytysvarasto, often translated as cryogenic storage or deep freezing storage, refers to a facility or system designed for the preservation of biological materials at extremely low temperatures. These temperatures are typically achieved using liquid nitrogen, which boils at -196 degrees Celsius (-321 degrees Fahrenheit), or through mechanical refrigeration systems capable of reaching similar ultra-low temperatures. The primary purpose of syväjäädytysvarasto is to halt or significantly slow down biological and chemical degradation processes, thereby maintaining the viability and integrity of stored samples over extended periods.
