Svømmebriller

Svømmebriller, also known as swimming goggles, are eyewear designed to protect the eyes of swimmers from chlorinated or otherwise treated water in swimming pools, and to improve underwater visibility. They typically consist of two lenses, one for each eye, connected by a flexible bridge. The lenses are sealed around the eyes with a soft gasket, usually made of silicone or rubber, to prevent water from entering and to provide a comfortable fit. A head strap, often adjustable, secures the goggles in place.

The primary function of svømmebriller is to shield the eyes from irritation caused by pool chemicals like chlorine. These chemicals can cause redness, stinging, and discomfort. By creating a barrier, svømmebriller allow swimmers to open their eyes underwater without pain or vision impairment. Additionally, the lenses are often treated with anti-fog coatings to prevent condensation from obscuring vision, especially when transitioning between water and air. Some svømmebriller also offer UV protection, which is beneficial for outdoor swimming.

Svømmebriller come in various designs tailored to different needs. Some are designed for competitive swimmers, emphasizing a low profile and hydrodynamic shape to minimize drag. Others are designed for recreational swimmers, prioritizing comfort and a wider field of vision. Children's svømmebriller are often brightly colored and feature fun designs to encourage their use. Prescription svømmebriller are also available for individuals who wear corrective lenses, allowing them to see clearly in the water. Proper care, such as rinsing with fresh water after use and avoiding touching the lenses, helps maintain their effectiveness and longevity.
