Svalbards
Svalbards is a term occasionally used to refer to the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, which is part of Norway. The standard name is Svalbard. It lies north of mainland Norway between 74 and 81 degrees latitude and comprises several islands, including Spitsbergen, Nordaustlandet, Edgeøya, Barentsøya, and Bjørnøya. The terrain is rugged and heavily glaciated, with mountains, fjords, and extensive permafrost.
