Suurega

Suurega is an Estonian grammatical form derived from the adjective suur (large). It represents the comitative or instrumental construction meaning “with a large [one]” and is used to express accompaniment or association with a large object or quantity. The form is built from the genitive singular of the adjective (suure) plus the comitative suffix -ga.

In standard Estonian, the comitative marks accompaniment with nouns or pronouns and can be used with both animate and inanimate referents. When attached to an adjective, suurga tends to appear in descriptive or literary contexts where emphasis on size is required, and the head noun (if present) governs the surrounding phrase. The adjective-derived form is typically invariable with respect to gender and number.

Semantically, suurga highlights size and can contrast with forms referring to smaller counterparts, such as väiksega (with a small one). In everyday language, speakers more commonly use koos (together with) or personal pronouns in the comitative (minuga, sinuga, temaga) to express accompaniment; the -ga form after an adjective is relatively specialized and more common in formal, historical, or poetic usage.
