Surendranagar

Surendranagar is a city in the western Indian state of Gujarat. It is the administrative headquarters of the Surendranagar district. The city is situated on the banks of the Bhogavo River. Historically, Surendranagar was known as Wadhwan City. It was renamed in honor of Sir Surendrasinhji, the last ruler of the princely state of Wadhwan.

The district is known for its agricultural produce, particularly cotton and groundnuts. Industries in and around Surendranagar include textiles, chemicals, and salt production. The city has a railway station connecting it to major cities in Gujarat and other parts of India. Road transport is also well-developed.

Surendranagar is a significant religious and cultural center. It is home to several temples, including the Jain temples of Bheru Kaka and the Surya Mandir. The district also celebrates various festivals with enthusiasm, reflecting the vibrant cultural heritage of Gujarat. The region experiences a tropical savanna climate, with hot summers and moderate winters. The monsoon season brings rainfall between June and September.
