Suolaympäristöjä
Suolaympäristöjä, or saline environments, refer to ecosystems characterized by high salt concentrations in their soil or water. These environments can be found across various geographical locations, including coastal areas, inland salt lakes, salt deserts, and even certain types of wetlands. The elevated salinity poses a significant challenge for most plant and animal life, leading to specialized adaptations for survival. Organisms living in these habitats, known as halophytes (in the case of plants) or halophiles (in the case of animals), have evolved unique physiological and structural mechanisms to cope with osmotic stress and salt toxicity.
Coastal salt marshes are a prime example, where the ebb and flow of tides introduce saltwater, creating
