Sulauskäyrän

Sulauskäyrän is a Finnish term that translates to "melting curve" and refers to a graphical representation showing the temperature dependence of a material's phase transition, specifically its melting point. This curve illustrates how the temperature at which a solid transitions into a liquid changes under varying conditions, most commonly pressure.

For a pure substance at a constant pressure, the melting point is a specific temperature. However, when pressure changes, the melting point can also shift. The sulauskäyrän depicts this relationship. Typically, for most substances, an increase in pressure leads to a slight increase in the melting point. This is because the solid phase is generally denser than the liquid phase, and higher pressure favors the denser phase.
