Sukhona

The Sukhona is a river in the north of European Russia, flowing through Vologda and Arkhangelsk Oblasts. It is a tributary of the Northern Dvina and forms part of the Northern Dvina river basin. The name is of Russian origin and is used for the river and the surrounding region in many local references.

Geography and hydrology: The river rises in Vologda Oblast and generally flows northwest, traversing a largely forested taiga landscape before reaching the Northern Dvina in Arkhangelsk Oblast.
